Three things that change your monthly amount
Combined percentage sets the base tier, dependent status adjusts the base rate, and add-ons layer on top of it.
Dependent status is a discrete column
At 30% and above, the base rate depends on a specific dependent-status combination -- spouse, parents (capped at 2), or both -- not a per-dependent rate. Parents are modeled as columns for 1 or 2 parents, not a rate you multiply per parent.
Add-ons layer on top
Additional children (under 18, or 18-23 and in school) and spousal Aid & Attendance each add a fixed amount per unit, on top of the base rate, only at 30% and above.

Special Monthly Compensation is a separate schedule
Special Monthly Compensation (SMC), Aid & Attendance, and Housebound benefits use a separate, more complex rate schedule that this tool does not cover.
SMC rates depend on the specific loss, combination of losses, and level of aid or housebound status involved, and do not fit the flat percentage-plus-dependents structure used above. For SMC rates, see VA's own SMC rate table.
